HULL, MA Wellspring Multi-Service Center is once again offering a four-week summer course in memoir writing. You might wonder: What is a memoir, and what could that possibly have to do with me? I’m not a writer! A memoir is an autobiography; the real story of YOU! Everyone has a story to tell—and this small, supportive workshop is just the place to get started. The class will be small. The teacher, an experienced professional and summertime may be the perfect time to do something for you and get started!

Classes meet Fridays, 10:00 AM till 12:00 Noon.

Dates: June 20, 27 July 11 & July 18th  (No class July 4th)

Due to the popularity of this class, students will now have the chance to continue with the process taught by Wellspring’s instructor who brings to her teaching, years of experience and advanced degrees in professional writing and publishing. Everyone has a story to tell—and these small, supportive workshops are just the place to get started, or continue your journey.


Memoir Writing I Starts June 20th

This course is perfect for beginners. A memoir is an autobiography, the real story of YOU.  You might wonder: What is a memoir and what could that possibly have to do with me?  I'm not a writer!  Everyone has a story to tell and this comfortable, supportive workshop is just the place to get started.  The class will be small. The teacher is an experienced educator with a master’s degree in professional writing and publishing.   

Fridays from 10:00 am -12:00 pm on June 20, 27 and on July 11, 18, 2014.  (No class on July 4th.)


Memoir Writing II Starts July 25

Prerequisite:  Memoir Writing I or some experience in memoir writing. We will continue what we started in Memoir Writing I. This includes identifying point of view and personal style, using flashbacks and flash forward options, including memorabilia and selecting an appropriate format. For anyone who wants to get the bulk of the memoir written, this is the perfect course.

Fridays from 10:00 am -12:00 pm on July 25 and on August 1, 8, & 15, 2014. 


Memoir Writing III Starts June 20th, afternoons

Prerequisites: Memoir Writing I and II or substantial memoir writing experience. This course is for those who want to complete the memoir. Once the editing and publishing of the final draft is finished, each author will select the option of having the manuscript bound in Wellspring’s print shop and/or submitting the manuscript to be published.

Meets Fridays from 12:00 - 2:00 pm on June 20,  27 and onJuly 11, 18, 2014.  (No class on July 4th.)

Adult Learning Programs

Adult Learning ProgramThe Wellspring Adult Learning Program offers educational opportunities for any Massachusetts resident aged sixteen and older. All classes are free of charge. The daytime portion of the Adult Learning Program is 100% privately funded and has been offering educational services to the South Shore for more than 20 years.

G.E.D. Programs
The G. E. D. preparation program offers a variety of schedules, learning levels, and instructional services. Day and evening programs, with transportation and babysitting provide flexibility for working adults and people with young families.

Secondary School Diploma
The Secondary School Diploma Program, a high-school-level program of studies, includes a technology component and career counseling for those who wish to pursue other interests after graduation.

Literacy Programs
Literacy classes and tutoring for adults with learning disabilities offer small class sizes in a comfortable home-like setting. Professional instructors create an atmosphere conducive to successful learning.

Reason to Believe Education Program
The Reason to Believe Program offers GED  training to students between the ages of 16 and 22 years. The program meets Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. Funded by the Workforce Investment Act, the Reason to Believe Program claims success when students receive their GED and acquire a permanent job or enroll in an accredited college.
